Infotrak Poll Ranks Natembeya as Western Kenya’s Most Influential Political Figure

Nairobi, January 13, 2026 – Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has emerged as the most influential politician in Western Kenya, according to a new survey by Infotrak Research and Consulting.

The poll places Natembeya at the top of the influence rankings with 50 percent, highlighting his rising political influence across the region.

He is followed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at 32 percent, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna at 31 percent, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula at 29 percent. Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya ranked fifth with 14 percent.

The findings suggest a changing political landscape in Western Kenya, a region that has traditionally experienced fragmented leadership among several senior political figures.

Political analysts attribute Natembeya’s rise to growing voter preference for leaders viewed as firm, outspoken and closely connected to grassroots issues.

With the 2027 General Election drawing closer, the influence rankings are expected to play a significant role in shaping regional political alignments and coalition negotiations, as leaders seek to consolidate support in one of Kenya’s key voting blocs.

The Infotrak poll underscores Western Kenya’s importance as a strategic political battleground and points to evolving dynamics within the region’s leadership hierarchy.
