KUCCPS Opens Application for Kenya Medical Training College Programmes

KUCCPS Opens Applications for KMTC March 2026 Intake

Nairobi, January 7, 2026 – The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened the application process for placement into Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) programmes for the March 2026 intake.

The application period runs from January 7 to January 27, 2026, marking the first phase of the 2026 university and college student placement exercise.

KUCCPS has invited qualified Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holders to apply for available KMTC Diploma and Certificate programmes, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements. Applications are to be submitted online through the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.ac.ke. Information on available programmes, campuses, minimum requirements and application guidelines is available on the portal.

For the March 2026 intake, KMTC has declared 21,774 vacancies across 36 Diploma and Certificate programmes offered in 98 KMTC campuses nationwide.

Candidates who sat for the 2025 KCSE examinations will have an opportunity to apply for the September 2026 intake, which will be announced in later placement phases.

Under the Universities Act, 2012, KUCCPS is mandated to coordinate placement of students into universities and colleges. The Act also requires the KUCCPS Board to establish placement criteria that ensure students are admitted to courses based on their qualifications and stated priorities.

For this intake, KMTC has revised the minimum Biology or Biological Sciences requirement for the Certificate in Health Insurance Management programme from a minimum of D+ to D (plain). KUCCPS has clarified that the revision does not compromise the quality of training, as professional bodies continue to monitor and accredit KMTC programmes.

Graduates from health-related programmes are expected to benefit from ongoing reforms in the health sector, including automation and the implementation of the Social Health Insurance programme under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

The two-year Certificate in Health Insurance Management programme is offered at KMTC campuses in Bondo, Chwele, Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, Nyamache, Nyeri, Rachuonyo, Rera and Webuye.

The government has allocated funding through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to support students admitted into KMTC programmes. Only students placed into KMTC through KUCCPS are eligible for the funding, and applicants are encouraged to apply through the official placement system to benefit from the support.

All applications must be submitted online. Physical KCSE certificates or result slips are not required, as KUCCPS verifies applicants’ qualifications electronically. KUCCPS has warned that no individual, including cybercafé attendants, should ask applicants to provide physical KCSE documents. Applicants seeking internet services are advised to visit Huduma Centres, where trained cybercafé staff are available.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Wahome has also warned of fake social media pages and online accounts impersonating KUCCPS officials. With support from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, several suspects have already been arrested. KUCCPS has stated that it is working closely with relevant government agencies to track and apprehend impersonators and has intensified surveillance to protect students and the public.

Students seeking medical training in private institutions are advised to confirm that the institutions are accredited by the Commission for University Education or the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority. KUCCPS can also provide guidance to students seeking clarification on accredited programmes and institutions.
